Ooraminna Homestead welcomes guests from all around the world and from all walks of life. Whether you stay with us for one night or three, Ooraminna will be a highlight of your visit to the outback. The following are suggested itineraries: One night stay Ooraminna Homestead can return transfer you to your arrival point whether that be by the Ghan, plane or tour. Alternatively if you are hiring a vehicle you can self drive (driving instructions will be forwarded on receipt of your booking). Upon arrival at Ooraminna Homestead you will be welcomed by one of the family members or staff at the homestead and shown to your accommodation. Settle in. Take a wander and explore the beautiful, untamed bush and rocky outcrops that surround you. If time permits take a cattle station tour in the afternoon or morning prior to departure. At sunset join the other guests, family and staff at the Ooraminna Hotel for a pre dinner drink and nibblies. A hearty country style dinner is complemented with Australian wine and an informal, friendly atmosphere and conversation. Conclude the evening with a cuppa and adjourn to the patio to listen to the silence and be mesmerised by the star filled ink black skies. Try your hand at finding some constellations. In the morning, sleep in and take breakfast at your leisure at the homestead. Transfer back into Alice to take a few sites before continuing your travels. Alternatively a balloon or helicopter transfer can be arranged. Two - Three night stay Ooraminna Homestead will return transfer you to your arrival point whether that be by the Ghan, plane or tour. Upon arrival in Alice Springs use the afternoon to visit the Visitor Information Centre, Alice Springs Desert Park, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Town Centre, Anzac Hill, Old Telegraph Station or many of the other attractions to learn about our pioneering history, unique environment and lifestyle here in the centre of Australia. While you are touring around the town we can look after your luggage. In the late afternoon transfer out to Ooraminna Homestead where you will be welcomed by one of the family members or staff at the homestead and shown to your accommodation. Settle in. See and hear how the cattle are managed, visit various water points, bores, dams, drive through the spectacular countryside and view unique flora and fauna. Learn about the station history and lifestyle. Take a wander to the Pub and Township site, a film set for the movie “The Drovers Boy” and now a location for functions and events. Climb one of the many rocky outcrops that dot the landscape to gain a new perspective on the outback. Hear and see many of the different types of native birds and animals that also make Ooraminna their home. Artists find Ooraminna a perfect place to paint or sketch or sum up the peacefulness and landscape in a few poetic words. Head back into Alice to take in some more sites or take a tour with one of the local companies out to the West MacDonnell Ranges or Chambers Pillar. If all these seem little too energetic, grab a good book, your travel diary and a drink ready to relax on the verandah and wonder at the timeless and ancient landscape that surrounds you.
